To whom it may concern,
     First off, if you’re reading this and you work on the District 9 set in South Africa, thanks for visiting. Now, lets get down to business. I wish to extend an invitation to those of you working on the District 9 set to send in images, information, or anything else to District9News.com. Your email address and identity will, obviously, be kept secret. I know that there are some crew members who do read this blog, so I’m asking you for a bit of help. Many people are doubting the viral and overall actuality of this movie, so any bit of information helps.

     All I wish is when you send the information (photos, viral information, production updates, etc.) you prove you are a crew member (ex: provide an image of an area that hasn’t been released or take a picture of a piece of paper with your name or email on it in front of the set). I know some information has been released by at least one crew member earlier on in the year to JoBlo.com. So, if you do work on the set and have any images or information you wish to pass on to the public, email me personally at Foxx@District9News.com. I hope we can work something out.

The District9News.com forum has moved to a new URL. It can now be found at District9Forum.com. All accounts and all data is still there, the only thing changed is the URL. You may experience some problems because I am also doing some maintenance work on the forum.

Well, maybe some news.

IMDb (which in has been known to jump the gun) has 3 actors listed for District 9.
Jason Cope (playing Christopher)
Robert Hobbs (playing Ross Piennar)
and Sharlto Copley (playing Wikus)

These actors are at, what I will call, pre-Cloverfield level, meaning none of them have appeared in any major rolls in movies… so their unheard of. One thing I do find interesting is Sharlto Copley produced “Alive in Joburg” (the short film District 9 is based on).

Other random bits of news:
- JoBlo.com Sony 2009 Preview (includes District 9).
- District 9 received 0.1% of the vote for “Most Anticipated Movie of 2009″ on ComingSoon.net.

In viral news: nothing.

MNUSpreadsLies.com has been updated by George.

He posted a YouTube video of the Comic Con protest and a message.

Found this on YouTube. It looks like a video by SisterCarrie, one of our readers. Interesting this is happening in the United States…

The logo/crest which can be seen in the lower left of this image has been found over at unFiction forums. Click here for a close up of the crest off the poster (provided by PostLarval from unFiction).

The ‘logo’ is actually crest of Gauteng which Johannesburg is capital of. Few modifications have been made from the actual logo, but it is clearly the same concept.

SpaceAngel from unFiction provided an article which talks about Gauteng and has a picture of the crest which can bee seen below. He/she also pointed out an excerpt from the article.

The pick symbolises the mining activities on which the wealth of the province have been built. A pick also appeared in the arms of Southern Rhodesia and the Republic of Rhodesia, which was also built on mining activities – or at least the expectation of great wealth.

Many of the comments made on George’s blog talk about the MNU mines. There are also refrences to mining on the D-9.com website.

This is a summary up to 7/28.

The marketing began after multiple signs like the one bellow were scattered around Comic Con.

This obviously led to D-9.com.

Once you go there, you are given 2 options; Human or Non-Human. If you click Human it takes you to a satilite image and small locations on which you can click. Then it tells you about an incident that took place there. If you click Non-Human, you must translate things by clicking the blue sound icon. Its the same thing as the Human, accept the incidents are different.

Once you enter (and for this I selected Human) you are shown the satellite image of “District 9″.

Once you fig-it around a bit, you can proceed to the next website which can be accessed by going to the upper-right ad that says “POWER THE EARTH - Join the cause!”. That takes you to MultiNationalUnited.com. Once you get there, a video plays, which tells you a bit about MNU and their services.

This website was made with great detail, as you will see. Going as far as creating jobs and advertisements. If you register your email on the homepage, you can access their privacy policy. By doing so, you are exposed to another website, which is MathsFromOuterSpace.com.

This website is made very simply and there is a test you can take. If you get all the answers right it takes you to a 404 Error screen. If you miss one, it says you are not qualified.

From grafiti found on D-9.com, the website MNUSpreadsLies.com can be seen. This website is written in all non-human language. There is a translation button. You can read through those.
